Either you love it or you hate it. There isn't much in between when it comes to Valentine's Day. Whether you've been planning little cutesy gifts or dreading packed restaurants and overpriced crappy chocolate... Valentine's Day is just around the corner.
Let's be real, millennials get enough judgment about being the "Netflix and Chill" generation. When we're not being disowned, we're being pressured into settling down and getting married.
There's rare discussion about using our 20s and 30s for self-exploration. We've become so focused on finding our soul mate or the next hook up that we don't get a chance to learn and love who we actually are.
But whether you're single, dating, or in a committed relationship, you need to make sure that you have time for yourself. So don't get overwhelmed by the onslaught of FB & IG posts that will swarm your screens in a few weeks. Instead, use this time to plan some of the things you love to do, like taking an art class, doing yoga, or spending some nerdy time at a bookstore or comic store. Do the things that make you feel like your best self.
Be deliberate about learning who you are and give yourself permission to change. You aren't going to be the same person you were 2 or 3 years ago. A lot can happen in a short amount of time, so give yourself time to explore your likes, dislikes, and reflect on the person you're striving to become. It's an amazing experience when you take the time to do it. You'll remember why you're such a dope person... trust me.
And if you already think you're amazing but still want extra love for Valentine's Day, feel free to sign up for a Valentine's Day card from yours truly. Because I'm in a giving mood, I'll be hosting the first Valentine's Day giveaway filled with self-care goodies.
